The negative slope of the yield curve is usually associated with a future recession in the US economy. In addition to the slope of the yield curve other variables, other variables can contribute to a more accurate prediction of a future recession. According to our estimates (based on available data at the end of 2018), the probability of a future recession in the US is relatively low.
