Piraeus Bank participates in the “Collective Commitment to Climate Action”, along with 37 other banks from around the world that have signed the U.N. Principles for Responsible Banking and have pledged to align their portfolios and boost financing for sustainable development, aiming to limit the increase in global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

In July 2020 the Bank committed to the Science Based Targets initiative, which proposes specific methodological approaches to calculate CO2 emissions reduction targets for both the Bank’s operations and its financing.

Since then the certification is renewed annually. In 2017, the transition to the new revised ISO 9001:2015 (Quality) standards was implemented, under which Group Planning, IR & ESG - Corporate Development & ESG - Shareholder Services, Corporate Announcements was successfully certified.

EMAS verification
In 2011, the Environmental Management System of Piraeus Bank was verified according to the European regulation EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) and the ISO 14001 standard (now ISO 14001:2015) for all its branches and administration buildings in Greece. Since then, the certifications have been annually renewed.
Piraeus Bank is a member of the Hellenic Network for Corporate Social Responsibility, which is a National Partner of CSR Europe.







In 2004, winbank was the first electronic banking service in Greece to obtain ISO 9001 certification. The certification has been regularly renewed since.







PCI DSS compliant
Piraeus Bank has been PCI DSS certified for the security of online card transactions and card holder data.









In 2009, Piraeus Bank Group Information System Security was certified according to the ISO / IEC 27001 standards by TUV Hellas Agency, a member of TUV Nord Group. Since then the certification is renewed annually.

Piraeus Bank’s Corporate Responsibility Reports are structured in line with the Sustainability Reporting Standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI); the Reports’ content is externally assured.



In 2014, Piraeus Bank Group once again received the internationally recognized certification under IS0 9001: 2008 standards by TUV Hellas for the Consumer Credit Approval Services of the Consumer Credit Approval Center.

In September 2015 Piraeus Bank co-signed UNEP FI’s Declaration of Intent on Energy Efficiency, acknowledging that the financial sector is uniquely placed to channel finance to activities that promote energy efficiency.

On October 2015 Piraeus Bank signed along with nine other leading financial institutions the “Positive Impact Manifesto towards an inclusive and green economy”, in the framework of UNEP FI’s Annual General Meeting. The Manifesto calls for an impact-based approach to banking.

Piraeus Bank pledges its support to the Paris Agreement (COP 21) in December 2015, to the implementation of the agreement and to ensuring that the level of ambition set by the agreement is met or exceeded.



In 2015, Economic Research & Investment Strategy Unit received ISO 9001:2008 certification by TÜV HELLAS, on the methodology used for structuring of screening models in Stocks, Bonds, Funds and the construction of Investment Portfolios. This certification is unique in its kind in the Greek market.

Piraeus Bank participates in the development of an EU Community of Practice Finance and Biodiversity (EU CoP F@B).
